The throat of the Traffic: As a throat of the traffic linking the south and the north, Lianshui has five provincial highway and three national highway, all of them converge inside the county. Ning-Lian and Ning-Hu speedway go through the county, it is only 90 , 190 and 450 kilometres away from Lianshui to Lianyungang, Nanjing and Shanghai. The Yan river which is the national fifth grade sea-route, with 500 tons capability of the single shipment, flow through the entire county. Huai-Lian railway, Huaian airport of civil aviation and the Yan river port which has 1200 thousand throughput is on the planing and constructinging. There are many nonstop sea-route from Lianyungang port to any large port all over the world.
